The Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Education (SIU) is mapping the possibilities for cooperation between Norwegian researchers, students and business corporations in India
The Norwegian Government emphasizes the need to relate international higher education and research cooperation to international trade and industry activities, in order to meet the competency needs of Norwegian business and to foster new innovation initiatives. Norwegian universities may, through their networks, be important door openers to Norwegian companies abroad, and vice-versa.
Students having spent time in India have country-specific knowledge that can be of great value to companies operating in India. Contact with companies operating in India may on the other hand be very valuable for the students, in terms of network and knowledge about international trade and business.
SIU is a public agency owned by the Ministry of Education and Research. In addition to administering programmes supporting mobility and cooperation, SIU is responsible for promoting Norway as a cooperation and study destination and provide information and advisory services within the field of internationalization in education.
In order to better facilitate contact between research, education and business/trade companies, more knowledge is needed. For this purpose SIU has initiated a case study on India. The study is carried out in cooperation with Innovation Norway and the Norwegian Research Council. SIU seeks to get in touch with representatives of Norwegian companies operating in India, to learn about their business activities, R&D activities and competency needs.
