Join NICCI in India this November. It’s an excellent opportunity to gain a better understanding of the possibilities. More importantly, we provide you with the chance to effectively build your network from the very beginning. NICCI’s General Manager, Trond Skundberg, shares his thoughts on the visit to India from November 18-21.
Why now?
- The Norwegian authorities have done a lot to open doors for Norwegian companies in India. NICCI is now ensuring that these opportunities are put into practice. In other words: walking through those doors. We connect Norwegian companies with key players in both the public and private sectors.
Why India?
- India, with over 1.4 billion people, is experiencing significant economic growth and development. This growth is driven by factors such as digital innovation, large infrastructure projects, urbanization, a very young population, and a growing middle class. The historic free trade agreement with Norway (EFTA countries) makes NOW the perfect time for Norwegian companies to explore the many business opportunities in India.
Which sectors is the November delegation targeting?
- Our November delegation spans across sectors and consists of a general program that offers substantial value for anyone with a business agenda. This is complemented by breakout activities focused on key areas such as energy, digital innovation, circular economy, maritime industry, and talent mobility. The final activities will be tailored to the actual delegates.
One trend we are seeing is that Norwegian companies increasingly recognize the potential to bridge the skills gap through greater use of the workforce from India. Several Norwegian recruitment companies are already registered for the delegation, so this will be an area of focus.
What does the program look like?
- The program lasts four days and includes company visits, networking events, B2B meetings, and dedicated NICCI seminars in Mumbai and Pune. There are, of course, options to add additional days before or after the official program.
Why spend so much time in Maharashtra, and the cities of Mumbai and Pune?
- The state of Maharashtra accounts for a significant share of India’s GDP, has a large industrial base, and boasts a staggering population of 125 million people – significantly more than any European country.
- Mumbai (20 million inhabitants) is India’s financial capital and an ideal gateway to India. Many of the largest Norwegian companies are also represented here. We will meet and learn from them.
- Pune (7 million inhabitants) is often called the “Oxford of the East” and is a hub for higher education and research, making it important for innovation and technological development.
Networking opportunities?
- Networking is a central part of the delegation. NICCI ensures that Norwegian companies meet potential partners, and clusters connect with their Indian counterparts. We hope to lay the foundation for long-term collaborations. Matchmaking begins before the delegation and continues afterward.
How to prepare?
- Good preparation is crucial. We will hold a digital meeting in October, a small “India crash course” with useful tips on visas, cultural differences, and what delegates can expect during their stay.
Synergies across sectors!
- NICCI has developed a specialty in organizing delegations that bring together players from various industries. This approach helps identify synergies and foster cross-sector collaboration.
In addition to companies from relevant sectors, the delegation will include business organizations, clusters, and public sector representatives.
We hope to see you there.
